The Hivery’s Entrepreneur + Inspiration Lab
Wow! Do you have a favorite, incredibly inspiring event that you MUST attend every year? I do and it’s The Hivery’s Annual Entrepreneur + Inspiration Lab in San Francisco.
The Hivery is a beautiful collaborative and creative co-working space in Mill Valley, California where “you can pursue your work, passions, ideas and what’s next.” Every year in the middle of October, the Founder, Grace Kraaijvanger, and her entire fabulous team host an all-day event focused on personal development and championing the unique potential of every person to find their passion and bring it out into the world.
The team took the event to a whole new level this year, hosting it in the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture, and building on the speakers and break-out sessions format. I had the pleasure of creating and donating a notebook for the 400 attendees with a unique pattern on the cover and back that I designed specifically for The Hivery and this very special event. The picture below shows it blending in nicely with the flowers and the program, if I do say so myself! :)
Keynote speakers included:
· Marie Forleo, the creator and founder of MarieTV and B-School
· Rosie Acosta, a world-renowned Yoga and Meditation teacher
· Amy Errett, the founder and CEO of Madison Reed, and
· Dr. Tererai Trent, the founder and President of Tererai Trent International, an organization that champions women and girls
After a lovely grab and go lunch prepared by Greens Restaurant, there were two tracks full of workshop options. It was so hard to pick just one workshop for each track!
Track One required you to select from one of the following topics:
· From Bootstrapping to Big Time: Startup Advice from Female Founders
· Find Your Voice Through Podcasting
· Inner Knowing for Creators
· Building Your Network
· Discover Your “Secret Sauce” as a Speaker
· The Hivery’s What’s Next, and
· Finding The Story
So hard to choose! I attended the “Secret Sauce” session led by Alexia Vernon and it was jam-packed with actionable tips for assessing and improving your public speaking. Everything Alexia covered was applicable to speaking in venues as broad as TED talks to venues as personal as Facebook Lives.
Track Two offered:
· Women Leaders as a Force for Good
· Love Over Metrics
· The Power of Great Hunger
· New Minimalism
· Focus, Freedom & Flow
· The Hivery’s Idea to Action, and
· Going from Full-Time to Freelance
Again, it was really difficult to pick from this amazing list of choices! I decided to attend Love Over Metrics which was led by the incredibly dynamic Jadah (rhymes with Prada, nada!) Sellner. She built a thriving business from an Instagram challenge called: Simple Green Smoothies. Now she runs a business incubator called: Love Over Metrics that helps women build sustainable businesses with grace and balance. She held a brilliant conversation with us which none of us wanted to see come to an end.
When we all came back together in the main gallery space, overlooking the bay on a beautiful, sunny but crisp Fall day, we were greeted with music by Grace Renaud and Soulshine, followed by closing remarks, and an informal happy hour.
IT.WAS.SPECTACULAR! I highly encourage you to put it on your calendar for next year. I’ll definitely be there and can’t wait to see the next evolution of The Entrepreneur + Inspiration Lab by The Hivery! It was a wonderful reminder that:
It’s Never Too Late to Create
