From Doodles to Dollars™. What's it all about?
Well hello again! It’s great to see you this week because we are getting ready for my free mini-course, From Doodles to Dollars.
What is it, you ask?
This fun, super valuable (and free) mini-course starts on October 5. In the mini-course, you’ll discover the step by step process for turning a sketch or doodle into a repeating pattern using the magic of Adobe Illustrator. From there, the possibilities are endless.
The industry is officially called Surface Pattern Design. And it’s the best kept secret around. If you’ve ever dreamed of putting your designs on fabric or creating your own stationary line or simply having your own set of sheets and towels or aprons and tea towels, this is the mini-course for you.

Let’s dive into how the From Doodles to Dollars™ mini-course works and everything you get. This is not your typical free program so please keep reading…
Here’s a roadmap of what we’ll be doing together with each step in the process.
Starting on October 5th, you’ll receive the first in a series of recorded videos. Let’s talk a bit more about them and why they’re important. Make sure my emails are not ending up in your promotions or junk folder. Move them into your primary or general email box so you don’t miss any of them!
#1 Recorded Videos
You’ll receive four video trainings. They are delivered via email so you’ll want to make sure you’re opening my emails and saving them.
The four videos cover:
· Sketch & Import
· Image Trace & Color
· Create Your Pattern
· Save & Export
Each video walks you through a key step in the process. They build on each other. Online learning is fantastic because you can watch the video once through before doing the work yourself. Or you can watch a segment, do the steps outlined with your own artwork, and then start from where you left off.
These videos are incredibly valuable and are only available for a limited time. You need to watch them when you get them and the first one drops on October 5th.
#2 Downloadable Written Instructions
Everyone learns differently so in addition to the videos, you’ll also received detailed, step by step instructions that cover the same material but in written form. These are super helpful! Print them out and follow along. Take notes. Write all over them or highlight specific steps that you want to remember.
I’ve offered this mini-course several times before but these cheat sheets are constantly updated for you. I listen to student feedback and incorporate your suggestions in every way possible. My goal is for you to achieve success during the mini-course and create your first repeating pattern successfully.
#3 A Private Community
When you enroll, you’ll be invited to join Anne’s Art Club, my private creative community on Facebook. This is our clubhouse for the mini-course. It’s where the Q&A sessions take place and where you’ll post your homework. I’m going to talk about that next.
This community is encouraging, supportive and incredibly engaged. We are already getting started with tools and resources to help you during the mini-course. And every Friday at 10am pacific time, I bring on a former student for a LIVE interview so you can learn all of the different ways that they are making money from their doodles.

#4 Homework Assignments
From Doodles to Dollars™ is a hands-on workshop. You’ll receive an assignment with each lesson. I’ve found that this is the best way to see your progress and to ensure you are doing the work to achieve the ultimate result: your own design that you can turn into fabric or wrapping paper, wallpaper and more. My goal is for you to have something you can actually sell by the end of the mini-course. I can’t wait to see your beautiful designs!
Don’t worry. I walk you through each assignment in detail and how to post your work inside Anne’s Art Club. Here’s an example of a homework post. You’ll attach your homework assignment in the comments below posts like this.
It’s fantastic to see your work. You are unique. What you create is unique. I’m always blown away by the diversity and the talent of each and every one of you. Truly!
#5 LIVE Q&As
After each video lesson is delivered, along with the accompanying written guide, I give you a day to do your homework and post it in the Facebook group. The very next day, while everything is fresh and top of mind, I go LIVE to answer your questions. These LIVE sessions take place inside Anne’s Art Club and you do not want to miss them.
It’s an amazing opportunity for you to engage directly with me. And get the answers you need so that you can move forward to complete each step. These sessions are very interactive. Even if you are shy and don’t ask a question, it’s highly likely that someone else will ask the same question you wanted to ask. Attending these sessions LIVE is super fun but, of course, replays will be available for you.
#6 Laser Coaching
During the mini-course, you’ll have the opportunity to send me your Adobe Illustrator file. I’ll take a look at it and share what needs to happen next during one of our LIVE sessions. These LIVE demos are one of the aspects of the mini-course that students love best.
Imagine watching me demonstrate how to fix a mistake or move forward with a challenging design – one of YOUR designs. It’s a magical way to teach and a magical way to learn. It’s one of my favorite aspects of the mini-course too!
#7 The Pattern Design Academy
At the end of the mini-course, I’ll open enrollment to my signature 8-week paid program, The Pattern Design Academy. Over 200 students have taken this online program and you’ll hear directly from them about their experience.
