Keep on Keeping On. Meet Pauline Reilly

Pauline Reilly is a salon owner who was told in senior school that she wasn’t talented enough to continue to pursue art. What a shame that just one teacher can have so much influence over us, especially when we are young. But it happens. And it happens to a lot of us!

The good news is that Pauline and I found each other about a year ago and through my creative programs and my wonderful creative community, she started to explore her creativity again and as she says, “It changed my life".”

I can’t wait for you to hear her story.

I can’t help smiling whenever I connect with Pauline because she has the most positive attitude even during these challenging times. She had to close her salon at the beginning of the pandemic and although it’s reopened now, it’s still a challenge following all the new rules to keep everyone safe.

Here are three things that I loved about Pauline’s interview:

·      “I call myself an artist now and that picture you see on my student spotlight is me joyfully sketching outdoors. This has changed my life.”

·      “We have to keep on keeping on. It’s hard with the new rules for the salon but we call ourselves the serenity sisters and stay positive. It’s fantastic to have aprons, mugs, greeting cards and cushions with my nail polish pattern on them. It’s becoming our new branding!”

·      “I joke about having so many American friends because now I say command Z instead of command Zed when I’m going back one step inside Illustrator. LOL”

Pop over to Anne TV to watch an edited version of her interview. Or join Anne’s Art Club and watch the replay of the entire episode and many others.

My creative inspiration comes from a lifetime of observation. I grew up in Paris on the Place St. Sulpice and walked to school through the Luxembourg gardens. And that was only the beginning… Learn more by watching the video on my About page.
