Meet Artist & Surface Designer Regine Milord

Ready to dive deeper into creativity? This week’s spotlight is with Regine Milord who, of course, is part of #annesuniverse. We are so blessed to have such amazing and uniquely talented women in my creative community.

Regine now has more than 20 designs on Print-On-Demand sites, and she has found great ways to keep on creating. In this spotlight, she offers helpful tips about how to be consistent with your artwork and how she is pushing herself to do more with her designs.

The video of my interview with Regine is over on my YouTube channel HERE. Please subscribe to my channel when you pop over there to watch it.

Here are some key takeaways from this interview:

#1 – Use books to fuel your creativity.

After taking my Pattern Design Academy® program, Regine got a book about how to draw flowers. She uses this book to practice drawing consistently, and this is like her own way of doing a 100-day challenge.

If you wonder what to draw every day, getting a book could be a great start. There are lots of books about drawing, painting, or even exploring your creativity. One of my favorites is The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, and I’ve read it multiple times because it helps me stay grounded.

Have you ever used a book to improve your artistic skills? If not, try it out and watch your sketchbook get filled up!

#2 – Be inspired by competition.

I love when Regine talks about the other artists on Spoonflower. Instead of giving into the comparison trap, she uses the competition as a push to take her art to the next level. This is so important because there are so many artists in the world, and it is easy to think that you won’t match up.

The comparison trap is a common speed bump for creatives, and Regine is another great example of how you can use competition to feel inspired, instead of feeling inferior. Our world has over 7 billion people and you can definitely find your audience, so keep going!

#3 – Add art to your routine.

One of the best ways to build creative habits is to add them to your routines. For example, Regine added drawing to her morning routine, and pattern design to her evening routine, so she finds it easy to create every day.

This is such a great way to embrace the creative process and you can check out this blog for similar ideas. It’s an oldie but goodie, and it will help you make art a part of your daily habits.

What ways can you add art to your routine? Let me know in the comments under the YouTube video here.

If you would like to see more of what Regine is up to, you can find her on Instagram, @rmilordcreations, or explore her Society6shop.

Bye for now, and I’ll see you next week!

xo,

Anne
