Meet Fine & Fun Artist Kyle Young

Hi there! I hope you’re ready for another student spotlight that’s going to be a sweet treat! Kyle Young is a dear friend of mine, and an amazingly talented artist whose signature style is a blend of “fun” art and “fine” art.

Kyle was very inspired by her mom and has been in love with art since she was a kid. She eventually founded and grew an ad agency where she was making artwork and helping businesses with their marketing. She loves art that’s functional and brings a smile, or light, to her viewer’s world.

The video of my interview with Kyle is over on my YouTube channel HERE. Please subscribe to my channel when you pop over there to watch it.

Here are some key takeaways from her interview:

#1 – How can you serve the world with your art?

Kyle always wanted her art to serve a purpose, and her first goal was to become a high school teacher. She also worked with a yearbook publishing company, and with builders and developers in creating architectural renderings. This eventually led to the ad agency that she built and ran for 30 years!

Art can really be a tool of service in many ways, and if you’re eager to help people with your skills, you’ll find lots of opportunities to put your art into the world. You never know where your art will take you, so it’s important to get out there and see how your art can fill a gap.

#2 – No artist is an island.

When Kyle decided to devote more time to her art, she committed herself to an art group that she attended for 20 years until they disbanded. Now she’s a part of #annesuniverse and says, “I feel like I have a whole different team and cheering squad on my side, and I'm on their side, and they're all over the world! It's just an amazing, amazing community, and I'm a person who really needs that”.

Kyle’s journey shows the beauty of not doing it alone, even when you can, and I encourage you to tap into this, especially if you have big goals!

#3 – Try new things!

Kyle also tells us how she never uses one medium, and she’s fond of combining media to do more with her art. I recommend this too, especially if you’re still trying to find your style. There’s nothing wrong with using one medium, but it’s fun to open your mind to what is possible with different kinds of art media.

One of my goals for this year was to try new things. It may be with your art, your business, your relationships, your hobbies, or even items on your bucket list. No matter what it is, I encourage you to think about something you’ve always wanted to try, and go for it! If it scares you, even better because that means it’s worth it.

Don’t forget: it’s never too late, and you can do hard things.

Bye for now, and I’ll see you next week!

xo,

Anne
