Creative Memberships That Work
Have you been watching Stu McLaren's free workshop? It's not too late to sign up, and let me tell you, it's been AMAZING so far. Click HERE to get the replays.
This week, I want to focus on creative memberships specifically. Sometimes as creatives we can think: “That sounds great but it won’t work for me.”
Here are three examples of creative memberships that work. There are many more but let’s get started with these so that you see the possibilities.
These examples come from within my own creative community and show you, without a doubt, that creative memberships work great! I hope they spark your imagination so that you get started on building your unique creative membership today.
Mary-Ann Walker LeClair's "Favorite Things" Subscription Box
Mary-Ann Walker LeClair lives in Ontario Canada and before the pandemic, she taught in person paint parties. As an artist who needed to pivot her business during the pandemic, she created a membership called "Favorite Things." It’s a subscription box service that delivers a box full of Mary-Ann's art each month. Members receive a curated box every month, filled with surprises including an art project, stickers, bookmarks, and more. The box also includes a letter from Mary-Ann that shares her creative process and inspiration for that month's box.
Mary-Ann has been able to build a strong community around her subscription box and has recurring revenue coming into her business each month. Members love receiving their box because it’s always a surprise, and they feel great by being a part of something special.

Natasha Zahn's Greeting Card Membership
Natasha Zahn is a watercolor and ink artist living on Kodiac Island in Alaska. She loves all things paper. To expand the reach of her business, since she lives on a remote island up in Alaska, she created a greeting card membership. When you subscribe, you get a packet of beautiful cards along with a list of ideas for who to send them to. Being a member is about more than just the cards. It’s about spreading joy and a burst of color with friends and loved ones.
This is another excellent example of a creative membership that works. It’s an effective way for Natasha to spread her love for greeting cards and bring a base of recurring revenue into her business. Members can’t wait to send a new batch of cards off to friends and family each month. I bet you’d love to get one!

Pauline Reilly's Procreate Simply Membership
Pauline Reilly is an artist based in Wales. She created a membership to support students after they graduate from her Procreate Simply online course. Her membership supports her students desire to continue to learn and hone their Procreate skills. Members receive two deliverables each month: a training video that teaches a specific Procreate technique, and a Q&A session to ensure everyone’s questions get answered.
What a great example of another creative membership that works. Pauline loves creating her own artwork using Procreate and offering a membership after her online course wraps up means students have a safe landing spot to go to for ongoing support and education.

These three examples are only the tip of the iceberg. There are endless possibilities when it comes to building a creative membership. By using Stu McLaren's proven strategies for building successful membership, these entrepreneurs, and many many more, have been able to create communities around their passions and create recurring revenue streams for their businesses.

MEET ANNE
Hi…I’m Anne!
My creative inspiration comes from a lifetime of observation. I grew up in Paris on the Place St. Sulpice and walked to school through the Luxembourg gardens. And that was only the beginning… Learn more by watching the video on my About page.
