Secure Your Spot: Portfolio Training Starts June 19
Hello, surface design friends! In the world of surface pattern design, a robust, dynamic portfolio is not just an asset—it's essential. But often when we think about creating one, we are overcome with worry:
“I don’t have enough work for a portfolio yet.”
“My work isn’t good enough to put in a portfolio.”
“Yikes! Creating a portfolio sounds overwhelming. Where do I even start?”
Creating a portfolio can seen daunting, which is why I’m offering a solution for you: my Summer Portfolio Training Series! I’m excited to share what it’s all about and how it works.
Beginning on June 19, this series guides you step-by-step through creating a portfolio that showcases your unique surface pattern designs. And the best thing is, you don’t need a ton of work because I’ll show you how easy it is to add pages when you have new work to share.
The Summer Portfolio Training Series is structured to take you from your current stage—regardless of where that might be—to a professional, gorgeous portfolio by the end of the summer.
Here’s what’s covered in the program. The series consists of three modules, each released on the third Monday of the month during June, July and August.
June 19 - Collect, Assess, Organize: We start by gathering your existing work, evaluating its suitability for a portfolio, and organizing everything efficiently in a portfolio folder system. Your homework for the month is to complete those steps and tweak any designs that need a bit of up leveling.
July 17 - Prepare, Design, Create: Next, you'll learn how to prepare your Adobe Illustrator files, design a professional portfolio template using Adobe InDesign, and create a first draft of your portfolio. You’re going to love how easy it is to drop your designs into the template! Your homework for the month is to complete the process, keep it simple and remember that done is better than perfect!
August 21 - Publish, Print, and Maintain: This final module focuses on publishing your portfolio, embedding it on your website if you want, printing a copy (at least one for yourself!) and learning my top tips for how to maintain and update it with fresh designs from time to time. Your homework for the month is to finish your portfolio- pencils down, my friends - decide where you want to publish it and, yes… publish it.
Extra goodies: In addition to the video lessons, the training series offers interactive elements, including live Q&A sessions and portfolio reviews. Plus, it's conveniently paced over the summer, providing flexibility and ample time for you to accomplish the goal: getting your first portfolio finished.

Are you still thinking…
“I don't have enough work to display.” No worries, my friend. I’ll guide you on how to assess and select from your existing work and offer strategies for recoloring existing work to make it fit a theme.
“I’m worried about the tech. How hard is InDesign to learn?” You know me. I break everything down into easy to follow, step by step instructions. You have a huge advantage already because you know how to use Adobe Illustrator. Adding InDesign to your tool kit will be a breeze in comparison and I’ll guide you every step along the way.
“My work isn’t good enough.” No one likes criticism. We’re our own worst critics already, right? The constructive feedback sessions you get - portfolio reviews - are a safe space to learn and grow.
Don’t delay. The first lesson comes out on Monday, June 19. Click HERE to grab your spot and I can’t wait to help you design, create and publish your first portfolio this summer!
NOTE: I won’t be live this week for my weekly Wednesday chat about art, creativity and surface design. I’ll be in a 2-day in person mastermind meeting. These mastermind sessions are so valuable that I don’t want to miss a minute.
xo,
Anne
