Doodles Wrap-Up: Creativity in Action

Wow, what an incredible 8 days we just had in the Doodles Coaching Week! My heart is full as I reflect on everything the participants accomplished. This program is designed to help total beginners create their very first repeating pattern using Adobe Illustrator. Let me tell you—time and again, my students prove they can achieve amazing things by following my step by step process. It’s hard! But I remind them that we can do hard things!

Student Successes That Made My Heart Sing

The From Doodles to Dollars® Coaching Week is all about creating a positive, encouraging space where creativity can flourish—and wow, did it ever! Watching students embrace the challenge, support each other, and achieve their goals was such a joy. Here are just a few of the lovely things participants had to say:

  • Jill Earl shared, “So appreciated Anne’s positive, encouraging teaching style!”

  • Karen Moore added, “What an amazing course, delivered by an amazing person! Extraordinarily clear and concise instruction, delivered with professionalism, generosity, warmth, and humor. A safe environment was created in which growth, enthusiasm, and dreams could flourish! Thank you so much, Anne.”

  • Taunya Tae Taylor remarked, “I like that you actually delivered what you said you would. I really appreciate it! It speaks volumes.”

  • April Hill shared, “Amazing time of learning! Felt ignited and awakened to the design talent in me that I had laid dormant. Thank you for your teaching and encouragement!”

These words fill me with so much gratitude. Seeing students succeed and gain confidence as they realize they can “do hard things” is what makes all the effort so worthwhile.

There Were Prizes!

We also added a little extra fun during the Doodles Coaching Week by celebrating students who achieved the ultimate goal: creating and posting their very first successful repeating pattern!. Here are this session’s amazing winners:

  1. Tammy Morgan. Tammy was the first student to post her repeating pattern. Her enthusiasm and willingness to dive right in was so inspiring! Tammy’s prize is a beautiful small tray from Lizzie Clark Designs, a talented surface pattern designer who has a thriving creative business. You can check out Lizzie’s work here: https://www.lizzieclarkdesigns.com/.

  2. Peg Philleo. Peg won a prize for being the very last person to post her pattern before the deadline—a true testament to persistence and finishing strong! She’s receiving a gorgeous linen tea towel from Maria Ahl-Zanier of Mazart.se, another successful alumna who creates stunning designs using her watercolor work. Visit Maria’s website here: https://mazart.se/.

  3. Shellie Zacario Shellie absolutely wowed us all by posting the most repeating patterns during the week. Her prize is a lovely notebook from Natasha Zahn Studio, whose beautiful ink and watercolor work is also a shining example of what’s possible for graduates of my programs. Explore Natasha’s creations here: https://www.natashazahnstudio.com/.

These prizes not only celebrate the winners but also highlight the amazing journeys of my former students. It’s an honor to showcase their work and see them inspire others.

My Reflection on The Doodles Coaching Week

Teaching the Doodles Coaching Week is one of the most rewarding parts of my business. I’ve learned that when students trust the process, take things step by step, and keep moving forward, they achieve success beyond their expectations. It’s such a joy to witness those “light bulb” moments when everything starts to click.

One of my favorite parts of the week was seeing how students supported one another. They cheered each other on, celebrated every small victory, and created an uplifting community. That sense of camaraderie turns what might feel like a daunting challenge into something fun and rewarding. We really can do hard things, especially when we do them together.
