Quick Tips – Marketing Your Fair

Ready for some marketing tips! Getting the word out effectively so that all of your friends, family, colleagues and local community know about the fact that you’re participating at a craft or art fair is critical.

When it comes to spreading the word about the event where you’ll be showcasing your beautiful work, I have three action steps for you:

#1 – Leverage the fair’s marketing plans.

What is the fair itself doing to market the event and all of the participants who are going to be there? Frequently, you can give them a copy of your logo or some marketing materials and they will include them in either the pamphlet, website, or landing page that they have created to highlight the event.

You want to make sure your name is listed with a description of the products you’ll be selling. Also, you will get brand recognition if they see your logo or some kind of visual you use for your business, which will let people know you’re there and help them to easily identify you.

#2 – Tell everyone about it.

It’s great to reach out to your community, friends, family, and email list to let them know you’re participating. Even if they don’t live locally, they may know people who do, and this will definitely increase traffic to your table because they can tell their friends and colleagues to stop by.

Ensure they know the dates and times and what you’re offering, and ask them to pass along the information to anyone they know who’s in the local area. Your friends, even when they aren’t local, want to support you. Provide them with helpful marketing images and gift ideas to share. That will drive interest and excitement. Reminders always help as well since we are all so busy these days.

#3 – Post flyers in local art supply and other local stores.

Look around for art supply stores, craft stores, and related retailers (even your local Starbucks), and ask for permission to put a sweet little flyer up on their bulletin board. You can have a flyer with information about the fair, your business, how you’ll be participating, pictures of your work (especially the pieces you’ll be selling), and ways to contact you in case people want to reach out to you in advance.

Post on social media! On Instagram for example, include the name of the event and check to see if they have an IG account. Tag them in your post along with other participants and the location name for the event. Reach out to any other participants you know and invite them to cross promote the event alongside you.
