New Series! Meet Amy Carson Brown
Hello, my friend! We’re starting a new series this month. I am super excited to share short interviews with some of my students. I think you'll be inspired when you hear what they were doing before joining #annesuniverse and what they’re doing now.
Ready to meet Amy Carson Brown? She’s a realtor by day who runs a property management company, but she’s also a creative entrepreneur and the founder of A Brown House.
Amy started exploring Surface Design because she needed a creative outlet to bring more joy into her daily life.
Grab the full transcript of this interview here or keep reading for a recap with key takeaways and highlights. The interview itself is over on my YouYube channel here. Please subscribe to my channel if you pop over there to watch it.
Here are three key takeaways from this inspiring interview:
#1 – Don’t get stuck trying to attain perfection.
Amy is a wonderful, real-life example of “done is better than perfect” as she explores new strategies for her business like posting on Instagram using reels. She says, “by the time I get a hundred reels out there, hopefully I'll have it figured out.” This is a perfect illustration of moving forward instead of staying stuck because you’re trying to attain perfection.
Thomas Edison, who invented the light bulb famously said: “I haven’t failed… I’ve just found 10,000 (versions) that won’t work.”
Keep practicing and create lots of art! This removes a ton of pressure from the process because you know that every time you sit down to create something, it can’t possibly be a master piece. But there will be gems sprinkled in along the way.
#2 – Be intentional.
If you’ve been in my community for any time at all, you know my motto: “It’s Never Too Late To Create®”. Amy talks about being proactive and intentional by setting aside time to explore business strategies, hone her art skills, and foster relationships with her audience.
Amy is creating different products, sharing her crafts on her blogs and LIVEs, and working on a course about preparing for Christmas with easy. She’s experimenting with ads to grow her email list. She says, “I'm trying to get people on my list who are interested in learning from me so that when the time comes, they'll be ready and interested in my online course about planning for Christmas with ease”.
Preparing well in advance takes the pressure off. Start early and be intentional with your planning so everything isn’t left to the last minute.
#3 – Keep learning and sharing.
Throughout this interview, Amy shares how she stays in tune with her creative voice and looks for ways to express her creativity. She continues to explore how to efficiently carry out the tasks that will grow her business and she generously shares some numbers with us so that we can see what’s working for her.
Amy is doing Facebook LIVEs more often on her business page, A Brown House. You can also follow her on Instagram @abrownhousedesigns to stay up to date with her amazing crafts projects.

MEET ANNE
Hi…I’m Anne!
My creative inspiration comes from a lifetime of observation. I grew up in Paris on the Place St. Sulpice and walked to school through the Luxembourg gardens. And that was only the beginning… Learn more by watching the video on my About page.
