My 3 Favorite Books Right Now

I am excited to share my three favorite books with you this week. This is another one of my “Quick Tips” videos, which are intended to be short, but still really valuable and easy for you to digest, so let’s jump in.

#1 – Julia Cameron’s The Artist's Way.

Now Julia Cameron's book has been out for at least 30 years, yet I go back to it almost every single year because it really helps ground me in my own creative practice.

There are two amazing things in the book. One is how she describes journaling, which she calls “morning pages”, and the other is an “artist date”. She describes how to take yourself on an “artist date” to reenergize and help you kickstart your creativity.

#2 – Wabi Sabi: Japanese Wisdom For A Perfectly Imperfect Life by Beth Kempton.

“Wabi Sabi” is a hard to define experience and sensation, or sensibility, in Japanese culture.

You may know Beth Kempton because she is part of the “Make It In Design” team that has online courses about how to become a Surface Pattern Designer, and as you know, I also offer both free and paid courses on how to become a Surface Designer, so that's how I got introduced to Beth, but she's also an author and Wabi Sabi is an amazing book.

I actually have a degree in East Asian Studies and my specialty in college was the Japanese culture & language, and I lived in Japan for a while, so I absolutely love Beth's book, Wabi Sabi. She takes you right into the Japanese culture in a really unique way.

#3 – Jeff Walker’s best-selling book, Launch: How to Sell Almost Anything Online, Build a Business You Love, and Live the Life of Your Dreams.

Jeff Walker is one of my mentors. He helped me develop my online business and his book, Launch, teaches you step-by-step how to launch any product that you might have, whether that's a physical product, a digital product, a coaching program, a mentorship, etc.

He walks you through how to do this effectively, partially by thinking about the way things work with movies. They love to give you previews to whet your appetite, and then you go buy your tickets to see the movie itself.

It's definitely worth checking out. He just did a second edition and I'm actually featured in it talking about LIVE Launches, so I highly recommend it. It's just a fantastic read and very, very valuable if you're ready to launch yourself.

These are my 3 favorite books which I have in both hard copy and Audible (audio) because I love to listen to them when I go for my walks every day.

Bye for now, and I'll see you next week!

MEET ANNE

Hi…I’m Anne!
My creative inspiration comes from a lifetime of observation. I grew up in Paris on the Place St. Sulpice and walked to school through the Luxembourg gardens. And that was only the beginning… Learn more by watching the video on my About page.
